New Monster Home Page

Hi all, I just LOVE finding newly redesigned pages!
Don't know if this is live 100% of the time or if I randomly stumbled across it this evening but check it out! Impressive as compared to previous versions as of late. They were getting kinda hodge-podgy. (Monster archived pages on the Way Back Machine) Looks like a great new focus on user experience and career focused job seekers. You can get in to search easily and not have to look at all the clutter. (PLEASE PLEASE say they're abolishing and burning those ANNOYINGLY AWFUL in between full page ads when you've hit search and now just want your doggone results!!!) Moving on... Very clean design, somewhat similar to the last design but this one has a much better feel to it, more white space and the eye has the ability to read and not get distracted by ads and random movements. Nice color scheme and funky vertical lines going on, but it works, unless you're a designer bothered by the somewhat tilted lines that you just want to go in and fix in photoshop so you feel better. When I look at it it feels like it promotes a sort of energy... Search at the top is great and right in focus! Clearer and cleaner tabs. I really like it as well as the subtle javascripting. The one "eh" area is the Be the Boss section... I don't quite get that, it doesn't look finished to me. Cool idea on what looks like a "now hiring" featured area but I'm not getting why would I "be a boss" at these featured companies/jobs. But, maybe I'm just not seeing the vision :) Interesting find... "Mr. (Jeff) Fleischman comes to Monster from the American Express (Amex) Company. He served most recently as Amex's Vice President of Interactive Services," (full article). Interesting.
Anywho... Nice improvement! Cheers to an improved design!

Baby update... I felt the need to post a picture

There he is! I figured it might be cool to show exactly how cute the new little guy is! His first picture on the interweb. Um, and his mother will most likely never see this. When I told her I had a picture of him on my blog she asked "what's a flog?". Uh... there's not much more to say there. I love her, she's my sister, so I just giggled and explained what a blog was. I'm telling you she was adopted. My dad says no. um, uh, no, still don't believe him after all these years :) Milkman's kid? Hi dad! He says he reads my flog, well we'll just test him on this now won't we.

Seamonkey (mostly)

Wow I'm completely a random spurt blogger ain't I? (pause... musing on how the title of my blog fits so well) I had about 4 ideas to blog during the course of today so here's #2 ROFL
So my last test post triggered my memory to download and check out seamonkey.

So... (regurgitating briefly the info is on their site for those of you who haven't heard of it yet) "Seamonkey is an all-in-one internet application suite. Web-browser, advanced e-mail and newsgroup client, IRC chat client, and HTML editing made simple -- all your Internet needs in one application." So I said humph, ok, go download it and see.

Check out the seamonkey wikipedia entry on it which is what I did for some back story since I was confused as to how I missed this. Oh, and take a look at this roadmap. I just thought it was hilarious that it says "1.7 Branch is MoFo's Domain" I fondly thought of my own team and our typical antics. One day I must tell you about them.

So anyhow... in typical James Joyce style...
Seeing as I do what I do, UX and all, and have been developing more as of late, I'm checkin' it out!
(pause... )
This should be the end of my post... however... I shall now continue to rant randomly about nothing...

...Yes... I have been developing more as of late... why you/I ask? I was seriously asking that myself this past week while staring at an and HTML template trying to translate it to an xsl doc, wondering how in the hell I was going to get this javascript to work on tracking and timing and muttering under my breath that I had design work to do and that I hated iframes because I would much rather the initial interaction I wanted to be possible rather than having to change the cool idea I had... but NO! damned z-indexes and security... just throw it all out the window. Mom, the principal, would be proud of that run-on sentence!

hahahaha! I bet my boss just LOVES sitting next to me when I'm rambling quietly and he can't understand what I'm saying. hee hee hee

I feel better now :)

Testing Deepest Sender...

Hello... just a test post using Deepest Sender a Firefox Add-on (God I just LOVE ad-ons - seriously).
It works with Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 and Seamonkey1.0. Seems easy enough :)
We shall have to test it out and play with it a little.
