So I went to
1800 flowers today (for my parents anniversary tomorrow - ARGH!!) and got a sneak peek at their new redesign! I like it! Here's a screenshot if you're not seeing it on the site. It looks like they're using some ajax technology, and it appears, from a user point of view, a much more responsive and faster site overall. Rollovers, drop down navigation, click on Login and a box pops down to allow you to login right there. On logging in, it doesn't take you to another page like it used to - for example I was looking at some orchids and clicked to login, the box dropped down, it allowed me to login and left me on the page I was viewing! Nice! It was definitely not this user friendly before. It used to redirect you to a login page, then back to the search/home yadda yadda... wander around the site and find your flowers again. The find a gift fast is pretty cool (pic shown below) and it's conveniently located right on the home page. Put in the date and it brings you right to all the ones with same day delivery. I'm definitely leaving them feedback. Kudos to 1800 Flowers!
Nice Job
Other things to check out on the site:
- Rollover "Enlarge image" on a product page
- Check out the new navigation rollovers
- Login from anywhere and watch what it does
- Simple ordering with the "who, what, when, where"
- nice additions to the "who" drop down... much easier!
- MUCH better location types
- eh, if you click on the same day delivery, uh, fill in the date for me???
- Nice 'ship to:' and 'delivery:' information at the top in checkout
- Couldn't find a continue shopping button in the checkout area (if I forgot something or needed something else)
- Nice search narrowing functionality on your products pages (pic below)
